So why choose AHP? Why not some other organization?
The answer is simple. Aviation has become a very competitive industry. Retention rates are high due to the nature of the industry -- most pilots, executives and engineers in aeronautics/aerospace love what they do and don't plan on changing careers. This makes these highly coveted jobs extremely difficult to obtain, and in many cases impossible unless you know someone on the inside. This is where Alpha Eta Rho really shines.
Today, Alpha Eta Rho is a widely recognized name in aviation. Many alumni of the fraternity have gone on to become pilots, engineers and CEO's within the aviation sector. Because of the outstanding reputation that has been created by these individuals for Alpha Eta Rho, active members and alumni have a much better shot at getting their dream job.
The fraternity also has an active scholarship program that offers financial assistance to a number of active members every year. To date more than $55,000 in scholarship awards has been given to deserving fraternity members.
I'm not interested in making aviation my career. Why would I want to join?
We understand that Alpha Eta Rho isn't for everyone. You might have looked into several other organizations, and you should, but AHP is about much more than just aviation. We are, after all, a fraternity. The brotherhood strives on ideals like loyalty and trust. The relationships you will create as a brother of Alpha Eta Rho will last a lifetime. The memories you'll have as both a pledge and a brother will quickly become some of the greatest memories of your college experience. AHP isn't just for those wanting to pursue a career in aviation, but for anyone with a sincere interest in aviation regardless of race, religion, nationality, or sex.
I don't think so ...Greek life is not for me.
There are many misconceptions about Greek life. Most people see a movie like "Animal House," and assume that Greek life is exactly what is portrayed. Absolutely not. Greek life isn't about throwing the biggest toga party, hazing, or keg stands. It's about brotherhood. For many brothers of Alpha Eta Rho, the fraternity becomes their second family.
How will fraternity life affect my academics?
You probably think that being a member of a fraternity or sorority would detract from your education. In fact, organizations like Alpha Eta Rho actually promote scholastics by bringing together individuals with similar interests. It is very likely that several of your classmates are already active members of a Greek organization. By being part of AHP you will have the opportunity to interact with these individuals allowing you to make studying a little less stressful and your college experience a little more enjoyable.
What do you guys do for fun?
Good question. We are a professional fraternity, that's true, but that doesn't mean we dont know how to have a good time. We've learned to balance academics and social activity in a way that allows us to keep the grades and enjoy college life at the same time. A variety of activities throughout the year from Fly-ins and tailgate parties to deep sea fishing and fraternity trips.
A few quick facts about Greeks:
Less than 2% of the Nation's population are members of a Greek organization, yet approximately 80% of the top executives in Fortune 500 companies are former Greeks. About 71% of those listed as the "who’s who" of America and 76% of the current United States Senators and Congressmen are are Greek men and women. 40 of the 47 Supreme Court Justices since 1910 joined a Greek organization. 100 of the 158 cabinet members since 1900 are former Greeks and all but 3 United States Presidents since 1825 have been fraternity members.
The Greek population is extremely small, but these men and women have used their knowledge and leadership skills to get where they are today. By becoming part of such a unique and exclusive environment they have learned values such as loyalty, trust, pride and respect. These are the values of Brotherhood.
What about sports?
Sports also play a large part of the life of a member of Alpha Eta Rho. Group teams include football, softball, volleyball, soccer and just about every other sport offered at the University. All members are free to participate in as little or as many athletic events as they wish.
But people tell me, "I don't want to pay for my friends!"
Nonsence! Every organization needs some money to run on and our dues are the lowest on campus. Only $200/semester.
Still have doubts about going Greek?
Most of us were, too, until we found Alpha Eta Rho. Come to one of our weekly meetings or any of our events and see for yourself what AHP is all about. Look for one of us on campus (we're the ones in the black and chrome yellow jerseys), or feel free to email our Pledge Master, Alex Khutoryan , for more information @ pledgemaster@alphaetarho.com
